anjali

she soldiers on, in elegant strides
ache in her heart, yet smiles on her face
fluttering like a rare butterfly, she redefines love
because i now understand it can also be a rose without thorns
she, my dearest, gives and gives and cares so deeply
her words and love healing all that she touches
gently, she glows like a gem in a cave
like emeralds and rubies and solitaires all fused into one
i wish to steal and then weave her
into the fabric of the sky, right amidst the stars
so she she can illuminate those who don’t yet know
of the most magical of warmths in the coldest of nights;
when she sings, her voice sweetens the air
from her laughter happiness births
she blooms boldly, a bright big lily
with such herculean strength, she ambles into her future
and yet
she’s delicate even when she’s daring
soft especially when she’s powerful
a mountain even when she’s a petal
tigress one moment, mermaid the next
yin and yang, whisper and roar
she’s all the beautiful paradoxes
that only make sense when they coexist;
to the cosmic powers hidden everywhere,
i pray humbly, but with the most urgent of urgencies:
please forever cradle her in stardust,
smear her skin with the serum of tenderness,
feed her sugary and secret nectars,
and guard her beautiful heart from every storm
for she’s not only nature
but the reason it bewitches
